Remote throws coaching
Remote Coaching for Throws
Remote throws coaching means a coach and an athlete aren't in the same place for most of the training week, but the coach still runs the program, reviews technique on film, and gives feedback that changes what happens at the next practice. MarkIT is built to run that loop end to end, for coaches with athletes in another city and for athletes who can't find a qualified throws coach nearby.
The loop, in order
1. The coach builds the program. Weeks of throws, lifts, and rest days, built once and reused. The athlete sees their assignments on their phone, not in a text message that gets buried.
2. The athlete logs and films. After practice, the athlete logs throws and lift numbers, and uploads video of their throws. The practice camera can start recording on a hand-raise gesture, so an athlete training alone doesn't need someone else to hold the phone.
3. The coach reviews. The coach watches the film, drops feedback pinned to the exact moment in the clip (not a vague comment at the bottom), and the athlete gets notified. This is the part a phone call or a text thread can't replicate, because the coach is pointing at the actual rep.
4. Repeat. The next week's program reflects what the coach saw. Progress, PRs, and compliance show up in the coach's dashboard instead of living in memory or a notebook.
Does remote coaching actually work for throws technique?
Yes, with the right tools, because throws technique correction depends on seeing the movement, not just hearing a description of it. A coach who can watch film with timestamped feedback is doing close to what they'd do standing at the ring, just asynchronously. What doesn't work remotely is coaching off text descriptions alone or off video with no way to attach feedback to a specific frame. That's the gap MarkIT is built to close.
For coaches
If you have athletes spread across a region, or you're coaching part time and can't be at every practice, remote coaching through MarkIT lets you run a real program instead of just sending workouts and hoping. You see who's compliant, you see the film, and you get paid through the app if you're coaching for money. Groups are unlimited, so you can run athletes across multiple schools or clubs from one account.
For athletes
If there's no qualified throws coach in your area, or your school coach doesn't have throws-specific expertise, a remote coach through MarkIT can still watch your reps and correct your technique on a real cadence. You log your own throws and lifts, film your own reps, and get feedback back on the same clip. Self-coached athletes who don't have a remote coach yet can still use MarkIT free to log throws and track PRs on their own.
What you need
A phone with a camera, a throwing area, and either your own coach on MarkIT or one you find through the coach marketplace. No special equipment beyond what you already train with.
